My journey of learning Flutter as a GDSC lead, seeking guidance, and embracing opportunities.
As I stepped into my role as a GDSC Lead at my university campus, I knew that I had a lot to learn. One of the biggest challenges was mastering Flutter, the popular mobile app development framework. Little did I know that this journey would take me from feeling nervous and overwhelmed to standing on stage as a confident speaker at major events.
When I first started learning Flutter, I felt lost and confused. The syntax and concepts were unfamiliar to me, and I struggled to apply what I had learned to real-world projects. However, I knew that I couldn’t give up, especially since I was leading a GDSC community that looked up to me for guidance.
To overcome my struggles, I turned to the resources available to me. I joined Flutter study groups, read articles and books, and watched countless tutorials. Through trial and error, I gradually built up my knowledge and confidence in Flutter with the help of Flutter GDEs like Pawan, Roman, Etornam and many others I followed on YouTube, GDG Accra lead Shadrach Inusah’s advice and Bright Sunu Etornam (Flutter/Dart GDE) guidance on a flutter good roadmap.
As I gained more experience with Flutter and speaking at different GDSC university chapters in Ghana and other countries virtually, these talks pushed me to learn even more about Flutter and to organize my thoughts in a clear and concise way. I had the opportunity to speak at Kumasi Google Devfest, Flutter Forward Extended Accra and Flutter Tour for GDSCs being organised by GDG Accra for some of the universities in Ghana. All thanks to Shadrach Inusah (GDG Accra lead), Frank (GDG Kumasi lead), Bright Etornam Sunu (Flutter/Dart GDE) and Paul Boamah (Flutter Ghana lead) for giving me these opportunities.
Thanks to Auwal MS (SSA Communities Manager), Nilay (Flutter & Dart community manager) and Sodiq (SSA GDSC community manager), I had the opportunity to attend the Flutter Forward Event at Nairobi, Kenya. These are some of the pictures from Kenya:

Looking back on my journey, I realized that there were several lessons I had learned along the way. First, it’s okay to struggle and make mistakes as long as you keep learning. Second, seeking help from others and collaborating with the community can be invaluable. Third, taking on new challenges can lead to unexpected growth and opportunities.
Through my journey of learning Flutter as a GDSC Lead and speaking at major events, I came to appreciate the value of perseverance, collaboration, and taking on new challenges. I hope that my story can inspire others who are on a similar path of learning and growth.
